All NEMAA athletes are invited to express interest in competing as part of an inter-area team at Corby (nr Leiceste) on 7th September. Provisional timetable attached, (hurdles slightly different to last year)
Please be aware that M35 and W35 age groups are for ages 35 - 49 and that older age groups have fewer events. To register your interest, a £20 deposit (refundable if you compete on the day, or if not selected) will be requested by invoice on completion of THIS FORM As you may have seen, we have had to ask for help with our field events several times this session due to a lack of officials. This year, several experienced officials have been on the receiving end of targeted abuse, both in person and on social media, and have rightly decided that they no longer want to carry out these VOLUNTARY duties.
All of our officials, whether track or field, give up many hours of their free time to stand out in all weathers, so that athletes can take part in their chosen disciplines and enjoy the various leagues and stand-alone fixtures that this region has to offer. They do this for no financial reward, and often give up the chance of competing themselves to allow other athletes the privilege of competing. Nobody is perfect, you may not agree with every decision they make, and if you have a genuine grievance there are proper channels to go through, but please think twice before posting on Facebook or similar social media. Ultimately, if we continue to lose experienced officials at the rate we have this year, we may be unable to offer the same level of choice of events in future leagues. As registered EA athletes, everyone agrees to follow a code of conduct and every athlete should also familiarise themselves with the rules of competition. At the end of the day, we all want the same thing - to have safe, enjoyable and competitive events. Thank you, we look forward to seeing lots of you at the penultimate match of the season on Monday (entries remain open until 5pm Saturday due to a late opening). Hi all, yet again we find ourselves in the position of having insufficient field officials to hold a safe meeting on Monday 29th (match 5). I know this is probably the third time this season we've had to ask for volunteers, and I'm sorry to have to do it, but if we don't get enough people stepping up for this match we may well have to cancel one of the disciplines. We are also thin on the ground for the final match on 5th August, so if anyone is willing to commit in advance to that match, that would be really helpful. Big thanks to anyone who is happy to help!
Apologies all, although match 5 has been open for a few days I forgot to update the link to it on the Track & Field page! All sorted now, and because it's my mistake I'm taking entries up until 5pm on Saturday :)
Yesterday the weather gods smiled favourably on us again, and it was a very sunny (but breezy!) day for our annual T&F Championships. There were some great performances (including championship bests, tbc) and lots of medals were dished out yesterday by our team of Ron Stewart and Steve Winter. Thanks to all the officials who were out there in the blazing sun for hours on end, and of course to our athletes for their entries and participation!
Apologies for those who won medals in the weight competition - we were under time pressure to get out of the stadium due to another event following on from ours, so had to clear up before the event had fully completed. Anyone needing a medal can collect one from me at any of the remaining league matches, or if you're unlikely to be at one of those, drop me a line at [email protected] and we'll sort something out! Also, entries have just opened for the next match (which I realise is late but I needed to get the champs out of the way first!), club shop and track & field page have the appropriate links, hope to see lots of you there next week! Congratulations to Elswick Harriers, W45-54 BMAF Road Relay Champions, 2024 Mallory Park Justina Heslop fastest overall leg in the age category Picture M Duff, Athletics Weekly
Entries for match 2 can now be made via either the Track & Field page or the club shop. Those with a season pass can find the link either in their emails/texts or via the Track & Field page as well.
Don't forget to get your entries in for the Track and Field Champs in June, entries available via the same route as above. Finally, a note about yesterday's very busy first match of the season. Thank you to all who competed, and a huge thank you to our super busy and extra efficient officials, who coped with the large numbers with their usual skill and patience. Apologies to those who competed in high jump B, we are currently missing the field card, hence the lack of results. Please ignore the current GP points as these are inaccurate because of the missing results and also because the various A and B pools need to be collated and I haven't done that yet (out of practice, it's been almost a year!). Thanks for your patience :) Team medals won at the recent NEMAA Road Relay Champs, the Sand Dancer 10k, the NECAA Indoor Champs or any other NEMAA championship can be collected at most NEMAA events. Paul Bentley, our Road and XC secretary, will be at the first T&F match on Monday 20th May with medals, sitting near the announcers box - drop in and pick yours up if you're either competing or in the area!
Also, entries are now open for the Masters Track and Field Championships on June 22nd - full details here The NEMAA Road relays are taking place on 1st May and entries are now open - make sure your club is aware and that they need to get entries in by 27th April. Full details can be found on the Road & XC page.
Also, entries are now open for the first NEMAA T&F league match on May 20th. Season Passes are available until May 17th and these allow you to enter all six matches for £25.60, that's a massive saving of £6.80 against buying individual entries for all six matches. Full details of season pass, individual entries and the timetable are available on the Track and Field page. |
