At the end of what has been probably the most atypical season since the Masters league event started, the men's home team of Jarrow & Hebburn were finally victorious, with a convincing 109 point win over their neighbouring rivals South Shields, with North Shields Poly finishing third.
In the ladies competition, South Shields managed to retain the title for a second season, though Jarrow & Hebburn put up a spirited attempt to catch up, with less than 50 points between them by the end of the last match, and Elvet Striders coming in with a well earned third place finish. Congratulations to the winning teams, and all the athletes who competed throughout the season - we hope to see you all back again next year! Full grand prix points (including the individual ones, details of presentation tbc) can be found HERE. The relays went well and the amended final results are now on our results page.

Due to the huge entries, we've had to bring forward the start time for tomorrow night's events. Track AND field will both now start at 6pm, or shortly afterwards, unless this proves problematic for too many people. Apologies for those who will be inconvenienced by this, but this is the only way we can fit in all the races required in time for the relays later in the evening. Please contact me with any issues you have about this change (I will not be responding until later afternoon as I'm on night shift tonight, sorry!). Approximate times for each heat can be found on the usual page, and if you are throwing, please use the link provided on that page to check that you are still in the same group you entered! Relays will start shortly after the last 200m race, so start sorting out your teams as soon as you can. Team sheets will be given out from the announcers box, or you can print your own, and you'll be provided with a new bib for your last leg runner to wear over their usual number. Full rules and a downloadable team sheet template can be found on THIS PAGE. Remember the last match of the season means RELAY TIME! Rules and a downloadable form can be found on THIS PAGE - remember you can include one guest per team (must be 35+). To inspire you, please have a look at the relay records shown at the bottom of this news item - can your team do better? Entry buttons for both Season Pass and individual payments are on the usual Track & Field page - if you have a Season Pass, please make sure you use the link given on that page, as each match has an individual link. Please note the slightly earlier start time for the throws - note also that we will be moving entrants from A to B throws if they are not up to the required A group standard, so please make sure you check the start lists on the day of competition to see which group you are in. Entries close on Saturday 14th Aug at 5pm prompt - please don't miss the deadline! The full race timetable will be published on Sunday 15th August on the usual athlete info page Morning all! Hope you're all looking forward to another lovely evening of athletics. Please note the earlier start time of 6pm for the Hammer B and Javelin A throws. Also we have HUGE numbers for the long jump (49 of you!!!), so we are having to limit your jumps to 2 each, or we'll be there until 10pm! Also, if possible, the event may be started a little earlier than advertised, so please be alert for any announcements tonight.
Your throw may have been moved to a B group if you didn't meet the required standard this year - please check the online lists carefully. Don't ask the officials to be added to the A list if you're not already on there - if you have any issues with your event assignment, please either come and see me at the match or email me today. |
