So...the last match of the season, all done and dusted. We hope you all enjoyed yourselves tonight, particularly during the organised chaos of the relays! Regarding the relays, there was obviously some shuffling of teams between declarations and the actual races, so if you spot anything that needs changing (and this applies to the other results too) email the usual. The relay results can be found on our, along with the league results.
Huge thanks to our officials this season, coping with the massive numbers of athletes, and big thanks tonight to Micky Baker for getting those relay teams out there, mammoth task! Not forgetting of course the track team, the timekeepers, the starter, and all of the field officials - without all of these wonderful volunteers there wouldn't be a track and field league at all, so huge thanks to all of them! Thank you to the athletes who ran, jumped and threw with enthusiasm for this whole season - and of course we have to mention the achievement of the home team Jarrow and Hebburn, who came away with both male and female team Grand Prix awards this year. Individual awards can be collected at any NEMAA event, or we'll keep them safe for you until next time. It's been a great season, and we're already looking forward to next year! If you can't wait that long, remember we still have the NEMAA pentathlon on the 17th September, and our 5,000/10,000m track champs at the same event - full details on our track and field page. REMINDER - LESS THAN 24 HOURS TO CLOSING, LAST ORDER MUST BE MADE BY 5PM ON FRIDAY 19TH AUGUST!
Entries are now open for the last match of the season on 22nd August. Remember that this match also has the 4 x 100 and 4 x 400 relays, so start working on your teams now! One guest runner per team is allowed (i.e. not a NEMAA member) but they must still meet the age requirements of 35+. Full details of the relays and an entry link for the match can be found on the usual Track and Field Page. Don't forget to look at the 5,000m/10,000m Champs and Pentathlon Champs while you're there - both events are taking place on 17th September and entries are open now. If you wish to be considered for the team, you must enter the selection race - full details can be found here. Don't leave it too late - entries close on 26th September with absolutely NO late entries, so don't miss your chance! Entry to the selection race can be made via the BMAF website (you'll need to log in to enter). If you're not sure whether you're registered with BMAF, please contact George Routledge - do not try and register yourself!
Entries are now open for the above championships - see the entry page for details. These championships will take place within the NEMAA Pentathlon, with all events taking place on Saturday 17th September at Monkton Stadium. Both the traditional pentathlon and a weight pentathlon are available to enter at £15.40 each, or you can enter both for an additional £5. Details and entries can be found HERE
Hopefully you all didn't suffer too much with the heat at last night's match (surely the warmest anyone has EVER been at Monkton stadium!), thank you for turning up and a huge thank you to all our hardworking officials who stood out there in 30oC for several hours to allow you all to compete. Results can be seen HERE - any queries about these, please email me at masterstracksec@gmail.com as soon as possible.
In other news, pentathlon entries are now open - both the traditional pentathlon and a weight pentathlon are available to enter at £15.40 each, or you can enter both for an additional £5. Details and entries can be found HERE To answer any queries about tonight's match going ahead in this heat, the answer is - yes it is! Obviously we would advise people to act in a responsible manner, drink plenty of fluids, and if you aren't feeling well, please drop out of your event.
For those of you who have competed in this event previously and who were hoping to compete again this year, we have some bad news. Unfortunately entries closed at the beginning of June (despite the fact that we were still awaiting their opening on the website) and we are unable to make a late entry, so sadly we will have to wait until next year for our weekend away.
