Wouldn't Paul Merrison's 38th position in 38'31" displace Alan Hodgson's 91st position in 42'55" to give Sunderland Harriers a time of 1:54:02 and 1st place in the MV45-54 category?

He's in a different age category - he would only count if that down-aged team had been predeclared, but I'm assuming it wasn't? If this does turn out to be the case the results will be amended, but as it stands the published results are correct.

Having just looked again at the age groups, he definitely wouldn't count as they had a "natural" age group team of M45s

Just a quick small query, why have the team event placings been decided on every athletes time added together rather than added up the finish positions as it normally would happen on NEHL xc events?

Hi Keith, sorry for the delay, just spotted this. I am aware that a decision was made to use the timings rather than positions to decide the team placings, but I wasn't involved in it so I don't know the reason. It may be that it's just simpler to do it that way, though ultimately is the end result not the same anyway? If I find out differently, I'll let you know!
