IMPORTANT ATHLETE INFORMATION
This page has advice about Covid awareness, information on times of races and what will happen in and around the stadium – please read carefully and follow any instructions given on the night by our Covid officer Marsha.
Spectators
Spectators are allowed, but please retain social distancing within the stadium.
Bib Collection
The bibs will be given out from the club house this year. Bring your own pins (8, for front and back numbers!), or buy a set of 8 for 20p. Your bib is your number for the entire season (including the T&F Championships in June). Any lost bibs will be replaced at a cost of £3, so keep them safe!
Sanitisation Stations and Health & Safety
Hand gel will be available to use, and should be used frequently, particularly if you are handling throwing equipment. Field officials will be regularly sanitising the throws equipment during and after each competition. No spitting is allowed at any time, and anyone found doing so may face disqualification. No shaking of hands, back slapping or hugging is allowed at the end of a race or field event, though you are welcome to "knock elbows" if desired! Should anyone begin to feel ill during the match, please approach one of the first aid team who will be near the finish line.
Movement around the stadium
Please remain aware of social distancing at all times, particularly when waiting to start a race. Give each other plenty of room and wait until you are called before approaching the start line of the race.
Equipment
You are welcome (and positively encouraged) to bring your own throws equipment. Each athlete will be expected to retrieve their own implement to avoid any cross-contamination, and all stadium equipment will be thoroughly cleaned between throws.
Shoes
WMA have brought in WA/WMA/UKA Shoe Rule T5.2, relating to thickness of the sole. The following points should be noted:-
Primary responsibility for conformity lies with the athlete. Shoes may be checked or challenged by the start team, and track referee if summoned. Athletes will be asked to change into ‘legal’ footwear if necessary. If this is not complied with the athlete will be allowed to run but immediate DISQUALIFICATION will follow. If an athlete wearing illegal shoes has been missed before the race start, disqualification will still follow. We suggest bringing a spare pair if in any doubt of their legality.
