NEMAA are very pleased to announce that we are holding our third stand-alone Throws Pentathlon Championships on September 20th at Monkton Stadium. Numbers will be strictly limited to 40 competitors, to allow a quality competition for all athletes. You do not have to participate in every individual event, though this will obviously affect your points total in the pentathlon. This year we will also be presenting the Stuart Ryan award to the male and female NEMAA athletes with the highest points total on the day.
Non NEMAA members, and members of other area masters clubs will be charged a small additional fee and be eligible for a medal, but must not displace any NEMAA competitor from a medal position. All competitors must be 35 or over and registered with a UKA affiliated club. Club vests must be worn. Entry lists and results will be shown on the Roster Athletics platform Thank you to everyone who participated in what was probably the warmest T&F Championships ever! Big thank you as well to the officials who were stood out in those conditions for hours, I'm sure the athletes appreciated your efforts as much as the organisers did!
All results can be viewed on the Roster website or app, and you'll see that the Championship Records (CR) are now showing, apologies for their lack on the day. Looks like quite a few records were broken, and of course some records in the older age groups were totally new ones - these will be updated on the records page shortly, again apologies that the sheets are no longer showing on the page (our record keeper may not have updated yet, there were a LOT!) The as yet unofficial records on the day are shown below:- 100m Lauren Jobson F35 Blyth 12.86 Alex Beckingsale F45 NSP 13.48 Olwyn Hocking F65 NSP 16.27 Doreen Craig F70 Blaydon 16.79 Stuart Lynn M65 NSP 13.32 Chris Fenwick M70 Tynedale 14.36 200m Lauren Jobson F35 Blyth 26.79 Karen Storey F55 Gateshead 30.98 Olwyn Hocking F65 NSP 34.99 Stuart Lynn M65 NSP 28.51 400m Lea Stephenson M35 Tynedale 53.04 Ben Harding M55 Morpeth 56.16 Stuart Lynn M65 NSP 1:03.53 100m Hurdles Craig Pounder M50 City of York 15.36 110m Hurdles Darren Towart M45 Blyth 21.97 800m Alexis Dodd F40 Jarrow 2:23.01 1500m Alexis Dodd F40 Jarrow 4:53.42 Greg Jayasuriya M35 Middlesbrough 4:08.43 High Jump Alistair Hill M75 New Marske 1.35 Long Jump Sarah Johnson F40 Darlington 4.64 Alistair Hill M75 New Marske 3.92 Shot Put Claire Cameron F65 Glasgow 8.84* Heather Jones F70 Crook 4.99 John Moreland M65 Rugby 10.95* Alistair Hill M75 New Marske 10.60 Hammer Throw Claire Cameron F65 Glasgo 27.97* Discus Throw Heather Jones F70 Crook 12.69 Javelin Throw Faye Winspear-Hewson F35 Middlesbrough 24.68 Alistair Hill M75 New Marske 31.07 2000m Steeplechase Simon Allen M60 Elswick 8:02.93 Weight Throw Claire Cameron F65 Glasgow 11.39* It looked like everyone had a good time at the road relays last week, and now it's time for track season! Are you ready to spend the day running, jumping and throwing? Entries are now open for the champs and are still an absolute bargain at £6 for your first entry and an additional £2 for each extra event . You can enter via our own website as usual, or directly through Roster, whichever you prefer. If you'll be competing in the league this year (and entries for that first match close on Friday at 5pm, don't miss out), you'll be using the same number for the championships, so keep it safe!
